Research locally
A research hub for the state’s machining, fabrication, automation and supplier ecosystem. Build a source trail from machine plates, business directories, trade catalogs, auction records, local newspapers, historical societies, schools, workforce programs and manufacturer documentation.
Evaluate current capabilities
For a working shop, verify machine list, travel, spindle, controls, inspection equipment, materials, certifications, capacity and lead-time claims. Ask what work is performed in-house and what is subcontracted.
Preserve industrial provenance
Historic machinery, tooling, catalogs, photographs and employee records can lose context when separated. Photograph plates, shop layouts and handwritten notes before dispersal.
Compare complete descriptions, photographs, included tooling, freight terms, control condition, and seller history. A listing title is not an inspection report.
